Rabbit, have you ever been to Hong-Kong? If I learned Mandarin would I be able to communicate there? I remember your advice of learning pin yin but being that my understanding of the language is so basic I don't quite see how that would apply to speech.
Are Mandarin and Cantonese very close? can you understand Cantonese?
That is a very good speech and even though most of Dr Martin Luther Kings dream came true in such a short time, there is a long way to go.
Most people in Hong-Kong understand both mandarin and English, if you speek slowly. Do you understand British English, that's just like the Cantonese to me! Hong-Kong people are highly educated, you don't need to worry about communication.

I say for an intermediate English learner its good. some of your pronunciation is still a bit off but that can greatly improve with more practice :) keep at it, you are getting better and better.
